The following statement was released by the office of Reverend Bernice
A. King, Assistant to the Pastor, Greater Rising Star Baptist Church and
daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., regarding news reports that she
will be attending the Drumcree Parade in Portadown, Northern Ireland.
“Having just learned of news reports that I may be visiting Northern
Ireland and taking part in a delegation to monitor the Drumcree parade,
I want to state for the record that this report is completely untrue and
utterly baseless. I have not been invited to visit Northern Ireland, nor
do I have any plans to visit Northern Ireland in the immediate or near
future. I regret that this false information has been circulated and I
ask for the media’s assistance in helping to clear up any misunderstanding.”
